Bengal Dragons Foundation Wins Two National Awards at FAW Grassroots Football Awards 2025
Bengal Dragons Foundation is celebrating after winning two national honours at the FAW McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards 2025, held at the Marriott Hotel in Cardiff on 19 September 2025.
BDF was named Fun Football Provider of the Year and also received the Together Stronger Award, an incredible double achievement that highlights our commitment to breaking down barriers and making football accessible to all.
The Fun Football Provider of the Year award recognised our success in creating a safe, inclusive, and culturally sensitive environment where children and families from ethnic minority backgrounds feel welcome. The Football Association of Wales praised our efforts to reach young people who had little or no access to the game, as well as our initiatives such as Ramadan Midnight Football, which provided a positive and healthy outlet for young people during the holy month.
The Together Stronger Award was awarded in recognition of our free football programmes, which have engaged more than one hundred boys and girls from low-income and under-represented communities. These sessions are not only about playing football, they help young people develop confidence, teamwork, leadership skills, and a strong sense of belonging.
BDF are deeply honoured to receive these national awards from the FAW. They are a testament to the dedication of the coaches, volunteers, families and players, who make the community what it is. This recognition inspires Bengal Dragons Foundation to keep building inclusive pathways so that no child is left behind in football.
This double national success is a proud moment for the entire BDF family and reflects the power of community-led sport to create real change. Looking ahead, BDF is committed to expanding opportunities for girls, strengthening partnerships with schools and local organisations, and continuing to use football as a force for unity, health, and opportunity across Wales.
